This note isn't a license to live carelessly but an attempt encourage you not to live in constant fear of the "unknown." Years back I wrote about how a hospice nurse told me about a story of a dying patient who was angry with God and herself. The story wasn't intended to mock or to speak ill of someone. She shared the story without giving the identity of the person so to maintain confidentiality and privacy. And shared the story because she too was puzzled by the whole thing and it was giving her concern. For the record, this story wasn't shared with me when I was a Counsellor.
Now back to the story, why was the patient upset? The patient was upset because all her life she lived in constant fear of Cancer. So, she exercised regularly, ate very healthy and followed strict rules of self care and had regular doctors visits and all the great things expected of a wise person. Yet, she was diagnosed with Cancer, sadly. Her lifestyle of taking good care of herself was good thing, but the fear was operating on her mind wasn't a good thing. In the Bible Book of Job, there is a part where Job exclaimed and said what he greatly feared had come on him. What are you strongly afraid of? Poverty, sickness, death, loneliness, being robbed, divorce, ...? Whatever it is, it's time to give all your fears to God. Live a life free of worry. Trust in the Lord always. May God help us in Jesus Name. God bless you.
